ParkMyFleet is pleased to announce that it is endorsing the Global Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) — robust goals that will help accelerate our global efforts towards achieving a Net-Zero future. On Thursday, at the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheik, Egypt, a number of countries agreed to join the ambitious agreement and key players in the mobility also pledged their support of the MOU.

First introduced at the COP26, the Global MOU is paving a path to 100% new zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicle (MHDV) sales by 2040. The interim goal is for these vehicles to make up at least 30% new sales by 2030.

“I’m truly inspired by the Global MOU, which will play a crucial role in our progress towards net-zero emissions,” said Mike Landau, CEO of ParkMyFleet, an eMobility and Fleet Services company. “The goals directly align with ParkMyFleet’s mission as we continue to develop mobility hubs that meet the needs of fleets as they move towards electrification.”

Together with the Netherlands government, the Global MOU is co-led by CALSTART’s Global Commercial Vehicle Drive to Zero program and campaign.

“The United States sends a powerful message today to the international community that it will work strategically and collaboratively to transition the commercial vehicle sector to zero-emissions,” said John Boesel, CEO of CALSTART. “

Today’s action will advance zero-emission vehicle manufacturing, boost our economy, and create good paying jobs while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.”

On Thursday, the US, Ukraine, Ireland, Aruba, Belgium, Croatia, Curaçao, Dominican Republic, Liechtenstein, and Lithuania announced at the COP27 that they would join the Global MOU. A number of major mobility companies, including Siemens and DHL, also pledged their support of the Global MOU.

“Thirty-one years ago, I joined the MIT Solar Car team as a co-captain, and I’ve been working towards creating more sustainable ways to transport people and goods ever since, which why the Global MOU is so personal and important to me,” said Kristin Slanina, CIO of ParkMyFleet. “I am so proud for ParkMyFleet to official support the Global MOU, an effort which will undoubtedly catalyze positive environmental change.”
